overview
Ed McKay, one of the areas largest and best known used books stores, came to EC Stewart Design and Communications (ECS|DC) to update the content sections of their existing web site.
After reviewing the design concepts for the sections Ed McKay asked ECS|DC to redesign the look and feel of the entire site as well as its structure, interface, experience and "purpose." To accomplish this ECS|DC thoroughly reviewed the existing site as well as user needs and audience trends. The resulting site includes standardized navigation, simplified body copy and increased access to an expanded "Frequently Asked Questions" section. In addition, the site also interfaces with the company's inventory database allowing customers to search for a specific book at any of Ed McKay's four stores.
This site is a great example of how ECS|DC works with a company to enhance their user experience and give customers access to an existing resource, in this case the inventory database.
